CIGARS: Bucanero Cigars: Z Friday, Nov 16 2007

Recently one of my cigar buddies that comes into Corona Cigar every now and again, shared with me a boutique cigar that he recently discovered at one of his local Cigar Lounges in West Florida near Tampa Bay. Being that Steve is very much a cigar aficionado himself, I take his suggestions to heart. He just so happened to have one Bucanero Z in his Cigar sleeve and decided to give it to me to smoke and review. So here it is. the Bucanero Z lit well and had a nice draw and decent burn. This cigar was very mild to mild-medium bodied and had a pleasant nuttiness. Initially I thought I tasted some woodiness, but this was over come by a nice roasted almond flavor with some hazelnut notes. I feel that at a price point of $6.75, it was a little more than what I would have paid for it and is a little overpriced for what you get. I think at a perhaps a $4 to $5 price point this particular cigar would do very well, but unfortunately this is not the case. For my palate, this stick was not complex enough to gain that kind of price, but overall this is a decent stick that should be given a chance.

I signed up for PayPerPost! Tuesday, Oct 30 2007

Join the PayPerPost Revolution! PayPerPost is one of the best blogging communities in that it allows you, the blogger, to get paid for what you love to write about! That’s right! So in my case, I love music, cigars, food, and sports and these are the things that Publish PostI love to write about and share with my friends, now I can get paid for them. Yes sir, not a bad gig. I only wish I knew how to make a little extra spending money this way back in college, then I wouldn’t have had to live on Ramen Noodles and Orange Tang! Now PayPerPost is going to pay for my cigars so that I have new subjects to write about!

I first got into the whole blogging and blog marketing when I was working with my last marketing agency and I haven’t looked back. I have learned about other topics of interest by reading others’ blogs and have met some pretty interesting people just by replying to their blogs. Matter of fact, one of the ways I use my blogs is to communicate what new cigars are on the market and what I think of them by writing reviews. I also read what other enthusiasts are saying by their blogs as well. I’m telling you, it a great community to be apart of!

CIGARS: Oliva Series V Wednesday, Oct 24 2007

Several months ago at the Oliva Series V launch event at Corona Cigar Company, I had the opportunity to meet Ovi Guerra of Oliva Cigars. He turned to me handed me a Series V Figurado and said,”So, your a fan of our cigars, do you like full bodied cigars? Light this one up.” I have to admit, other than the Master Blend 3, I was not really that big a fan of Oliva. I found many other cigars, although complex and smooth, did not have the uniqueness of other, fuller bodied cigars offered. That is until i found the Series V. This cigar is nothing short of amazing. With their unique fermentation process, Oliva has been able to harness the bite of the Ligero tobacco from “biting” the lips and throat while keeping the flavor that is signature to a good Ligero cigar. What is left is a smoke stick that is smooth, VERY full flavored and gives you that kick in the gut feeling that Ligero offers. Seriously, this cigar punches you in the gut, pleasantly if I might add, and for me, even gives me hick-ups, no kidding! Try this cigar. I have already converted many from regular ligero smokers to Oliva Series V smokers, you wont be sorry.

Business: Art: $100 Million for Diamond Skull Friday, Aug 31 2007

London – Investor group pays $100 Million for a diamond encrusted “real skull, built from 32 platinum plates and 8,601 diamonds, using a hand laser to cut thousands of tiny diamond settings. The work has a 52-carat pink diamond at its center and is studded with 14 pear-shaped diamonds.” I wonder if the guy who volunteered his skull realized he was going to have more bling than Ludacris!?

Politics: Immigration: White Power Chant in Colorado Friday, Aug 31 2007

White Power Chant rings out at a high school in Colorado during a class discussion about Immigration. Students at Holy Cross High School do anything but display the holy spirit when they began to chant racial slurs directed at students who were of a Mexican-American ethnic background. According to an email sent to 9NEWS, “Hispanic students in the class at the time asked to leave, but were forced to stay in the classroom.”

EDUCATION: NEWS: School Bans Playground Tag Thursday, Aug 30 2007

Colorado School Bans Tag on School Playgrounds.
I am so tired of all this politically correct, trying not to hurt anyone’s feelings, trying to be as safe as possible crap that is in our schools, work places, and places of worship. I mean when is it going to end. I realize that we live in a day in age where children are forced to grow up faster due an quickly every changing society and safety is most definitely an issue when children are at play, however, shouldn’t we allow children to play the games that innocent and fun on the playgrounds? Heck, when I was young we played with lawn darts and paint chips!
